A more accurate rating ...

A more accurate rating is probably 3.5 stars but half stars aren't an option. Firstly the location is really good, it is at the end of a really long street but is close to some great eating places and pretty central to most other areas of interest. The rooms (or more accurately, our room) is on the small side but is clean and really comfortable. However the staff here are the weakest link - during our 4-night stay we encountered 4 different on reception and all 4, whilst not being rude, just seemed to be completely 'disengaged' - they were efficient without being pleasant or warm and welcoming. It's not that big a deal I guess but it definitely would have made the stay more pleasant. A good example is that when my wife took a shower, the water stayed in in the bottom of the cubicle and even after 30 mins, no water had gone. So of course we called reception and after initially being told "he would try to get someone to fix it", when we called back after 40 mins we were advsied that "no-one was available and they would try to get there to the next morning or the morning after, as they needed a special tool"..... so then to avoid not being able to shower for days I took it upon myelf to unscrew the silver cover over the drain, and then had to remove a large amount of human hair that was covering the drain. Problem fixed. So again, I think a fairer rating is 3.5.

The location was great, ...

The location was great, walkable to restaurants, museums, historic sites and very friendly staff. They offer free coffee, tea time with cookies and sometimes even wine samples and cheese. The breakfast was ok , American style. The room was a little small, the bed was very soft and comfortable, very clean and quiet. Have mini fridge but not microwave. Also have safe . The only thing that I was disappointed about was the view was a wall, I couldn’t even see the sky , was a dark room . Other things was the air conditioner didn’t work so a night was warm. But work for 3 days and I have fun in the old town!

Cannot think there is ...

Cannot think there is a better place to stay if your intent is to visit the main historical attractions in downtown Philadelphia. A two block walk to Independence Hall and the mall and directly across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution. Plus, walking distance to Spruce Street Park on the waterfront as well as the Reading Terminal Market. The gentleman who assisted with our check-in, Martin, was incredibly nice and welcoming and provided amazing advice for places to eat and things to do. Would wholeheartedly recommend.
